Hillcrest VLC brand and website

Hillcrest Christian College’s Virtual Learning Community (VLC) offers a truly flexible remote learning experience for children aged prep to year 12. An evolution of traditional distance learning, Hillcrest’s VLC incorporates the best aspects of a world-class Hillcrest Christian College education.

With a strong focus on educating the whole child, the VLC program has been carefully designed to provide an environment where every child can learn in a way that suits their unique strengths and interests.

Theory Agency were approached to design a compelling brand identity and website solution to help successfully launch this exciting new education venture.

Brand design

Theory Agency crafted a dynamic, forward thinking brand identity that centres around notions of community, flexibility and innovation. Designed to work alongside the parent Hillcrest Christian College logo, the circular marque features individual segments that unify around a central point. This forms an effective visual metaphor of the VLC offering – demonstrating how individual remote students come together as part of the Hillcrest community.

The wider brand identity conveys a contemporary, innovative aesthetic which well-reflects the progressive, digitally enabled offering. A ‘flex’ device was created to convey the tailored, flexible nature of the VLC whilst heroing the home environments in which the students can participate.

Website design and development

Following the creation of the brand identity, Theory Agency were tasked with planning, designing and developing an effective website solution. Starting with digital strategy, we worked alongside the Hillcrest team to carefully plan the website structure and content – ensuring a smooth and intuitive user experience. With a site-plan and wireframes in place, we effectively applied the new brand identity across the website design.

Built in WordPress and utilising the Elementor CMS, the custom developed website allows the Hillcrest team to easily update, edit and add content as required. Parallax scrolling and subtle gradient animations create a memorable branded website experience.

Theory were also responsible for the website’s copywriting, ensuring the VLC offering is communicated in a clear, engaging, professional and trustworthy tone of voice.
