Emmanuel College is a co-educational Christian school, highly valued by the Gold Coast community for its strong commitment to achieving excellence and 'shaping people of good character'.
With the clarity of a new strategic plan, Emmanuel College approached Theory looking to evolve its brand identity.
Looking to build upon the college’s rich tradition and heritage, it was quickly identified that any update of the existing logo should be treated as an evolution as opposed to a clean state. This would allow for a more contemporary aesthetic whilst retaining the community’s emotional connection to the logo which had been established over the decades.
Retaining all the existing elements, we looked to craft a more unified, contemporary and forward-thinking shield. In response to the limitations of the existing iteration, we also placed emphasis on ensuring consistent reproduction across a wide range of applications and mediums – from uniform embroidery to social media profiles.
The updated brand identity looks to convey the high quality, welcoming and joy-filled Emmanuel experience. Extrapolated from the three diamonds found in the crest’s crown, a flowing ribbon device weaves through hero applications. This conveys a caring, progressive personality whilst symbolising the ‘joy’ found in the everyday.
A refined colour palette and considered typographic style reference the college’s heritage whilst moving into a more contemporary space. Overall, the updated visual identity reflects a high-quality, forward-focused, caring and welcoming institution.
Tasked with creating the Emmanuel College prospectus, we spent time crafting an effective voice – from which we developed compelling headlines and copy. Confident, welcoming and emotive – the established tone accurately reflects the strongly held values at the heart of the college.
The updated brand identity utilises a candid photography style which captures authentic moments of everyday joy. Encapsulating the welcoming, friendly nature of the college, the brand photography sets an inclusive tone and accurately portrays the Emmanuel College experience.
A contemporary ‘studio’ photography treatment supports the lifestyle imagery and helps to further humanise the brand – capturing personalities and enhancing the storytelling of individual students, staff and alumni.
Theory delivered a solution which honoured the rich history of our college while moving our visual identity into the modern era, giving our brand a contemporary flavour without compromising our heritage and traditions.

To enable the flexible yet consistent application of the updated brand identity, Theory created a comprehensive brand guidelines document.
Following the initial brand rollout, we continue to work in partnership the Emmanuel College marketing team, ensuring the brand identity is effectively applied across all communication and marketing materials.
